THE CONCEPT

Lembas Works created and curated a unique “Entertainment for Education” experience for The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital with an immersive series of innovative, visual installations for their charity gala, A Brilliant Night. An ongoing campaign for The Neuro and its doctors was carefully weaved into the creation process, enabling them to use the creations for imparting education, and their work at global presentations, speaker sessions and at the Institute itself.

WE ARE NATURE, WE ARE SCIENCE

“We are Nature, We are Science” is an evocative sand animation, art education project created for “A Brilliant Night 2016”, and it’s ongoing initiative to raise funds, as well as awareness for The Neuro, Montreal Neurological Institute, Hospital and it’s research campaign.

The Mandate: A poetic, metaphorical interpretation of the birth, life and journey of the human Stem Cells… and the difficult narrative about the process that leads to this deadly disease.

Design with Purpose: This art video aims to showcase the groundbreaking research by The Neuro doctors in the field of Brain Cancer Research. Using animation storytelling with alludes to nature, it demystifies the complex, heart tugging medical reality and working of Brain Cancer, allowing doctors a simple tool to impart education in hospitals, presentations and online. Lembas designers were especially proud to use organic, recycled material through this process.

WONDERLAND OF THE BRAIN

“Wonderland of the Brain” is an interactive, educational artwork created for “A Brilliant Night”, an initiative of The Neuro, Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital.

The installation creates a keyhole into the internal environment of the human brain, color coding original images procured from the Research Center Lab, to draw metaphors with the elements of nature, reminding audiences of the link between the human body and the biosphere. Soundscapes created from real heartbeats and lab machinery further enhance this connection. Built to provide a unique game like experience for an audience, it allows doctors to communicate their work in an engaging, contemporary format for future presentations and interactions with patients, as well.

Viewers play with a moving exploration of the inner mapping of astrocytes, neurons and stem cells, using a uniquely designed prop, simulating a medical probe. The user can then click on any cell to discover a fun fact regarding the machinations of each cell making for their own immersion into a Lab Experience.

It aims to honor the findings of The Neuro Doctors and their ground breaking research with Cancer Stem Cells.
